Shane Briant

 CONFIRMED

Shane Briant, star of cult Hammer films Demons Of The Mind and Frankenstein And The Monster from Hell will be the guest of honour at this year's Bram Stoker International Film Festival in Whitby. Briant, along with Sir Christopher Lee, is the last surviving leading man from the golden age of Hammer films and this will be his first appearance in the United Kingdom for 25 years. The festival, held annually in Whitby – where Count Dracula first landed in England – is the first horror/cult film convention Briant will have attended in the UK. "It will be so exciting to return to the UK after so many years away," said Briant who has lived in Australia since 1983, "and I really look forward to visiting Whitby and meeting my original Hammer co-stars and loyal fans. I am currently working on a short film about Bram Stoker and where better to shoot it than in the place where the Dracula legend began? This is a very exciting festival and I can't wait to get my fangs into some Yorkshire fish 'n chips!" The festival runs from October 14th-17th and will feature one of Briant's most popular Hammer films, Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter. The festival also brings together the largest collection of Hammer film memorabilia in the UK for the first time. Rumour has it that Briant still has his original costume from Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell.

Author, Journalist and Broadcaster

 CONFIRMED

Gavin Baddeley is an acclaimed author, journalist and broadcaster, specialising in the exotic, macabre and occult. In addition to several books in the area, he’s penned numerous magazine and newspaper articles, for publications ranging from Kerrang! to The Observer, as well as serving as a consultant and interviewee for the likes of Channel Four, MTV and the BBC. Gavin’s also delivered talks and led debates at diverse institutions, including Cambridge University and a broad selection of occult societies, philosophical discussion groups and film festivals. The Journal of Popular Culture dubbed Gavin ‘the patron saint of gothic journalism’, while Anton LaVey, the 20th century’s ‘black pope’, made him an honorary reverend in his infamous Church of Satan for his services to international devilment, describing Baddeley as ‘a sharp cookie’. After a long period of research and study, Gavin now has a number of new titles due for release in the autumn of 2009. In The Devil’s Historybooks, Gavin collaborates with his long-time associate Paul Woods to apply their unique combination of talents to some of history’s most controversial and darkly fascinating episodes in a new series of books for Ian Allan Publishing, with the first two titles focusing on the Assassins and Jack the Ripper. Plexus will be releasing Gavin’s two new books on vampires and Gothic style – Vampire Lovers and Vamps and Dandies – while FAB Press have recently published his long-awaited collaboration with the band Cradle of Filth, the truly epic unholy tome The Gospel of Filth.
